To all neighbors of Hayden Lakes,

We held an open Board meeting last Wednesday and appreciate the participation of several residents. Below is a summary of what was discussed as well as a few additional items.

Landscaping

Most of the crepe myrtles at the entrance as well as the roses at the roundabout and in front of the pool have died. Neither was due to the summer heat and drought. The crepe myrtles were significantly damaged during the early freeze and we gave them plenty of time to try to bounce back. Unfortunately most didn’t make it. The roses were further killed off by the rose rosette disease. This is what damaged the roses last year when we had to pull half of them. It’s not recommended to replant roses for several years so we are looking at other options for these spaces when the temperatures cool down.

Inspections

During the last round of inspections with letters, we had an above average number of replies. The majority of which were letting us know that the condition was corrected. We appreciate the responses.

Inspections were completed last Wednesday before the water conservation measures were announced. We understand resident concerns that yards may become brown. The same will most likely happen with the grass in community green spaces. The overwhelming majority of residents have great looking yards. We appreciate those who succeeded in keeping their appearance nice with 23 straight days of 100 plus degree temps. We will not be sending out letters for brown patches. We will send out letters for those who have excessive weeds in their yard or flowerbeds, grass and weeds growing across their sidewalks or driveway joints, dead trees/shrubs, and residents who it’s clear are not even trying to maintain their yard. The last two conditions of which we’ve given ample time since it’s from last summer or the freeze. We’ve received several communications in the last few weeks from residents concerned about the appearance of a few homes in the neighborhood. We all must continue to strive to maintain value and appearance. Watering restrictions do not prevent customary practices of weed control and pruning. To reiterate, we will not be sending out letters for brown spots that only started appearing this summer. If you have any specific concerns or questions, please email the Board directly. We are willing to work with anyone who is remotely trying.

Lakes

We are seeing similar algae issues to what we had last year. This is due to the excessive heat and lack of rain. Lake Management is treating the lakes the best they can.

Pool

The pool will be open on Labor Day, Monday September 4th, to those residents who have a SAYOR waiver on file. It will be closed on Tuesday September 5th for cleaning. Just a reminder the pool is open for Swim at your own risk from 6am-9pm. If you see people swimming outside these hours send an email to Pool@haydenlakeshoa.org or politely ask them to leave. We have had a couple instances of teenagers jumping the fence at night. This is a risk to the neighborhood if one of them was to get hurt.

Projects

We budgeted for several projects and intend to complete the following this year.

– Preventative maintenance and staining of the pool pergolas.

– Replacement of the playground sign with a durable metal one.

– Smaller metal safety mesh on the drainage grates in the dog park.

– Repair/replacement of the lighting on the main entrance sign and tower.

If you are an electrician or painter and would like to submit a bid for one of these projects, please email the Board.

Website

We are working to update and refresh the haydenlakeshoa.org website. We would like to make it more user friendly and keep the content relevant. If you have any ideas or suggestions to make the website better, please email the Board.

Fall Festival

Save the date for our Fall Festival on October 7th from 10am-2pm at the pool pavilion parking lot. Face painting, balloon animals, pumpkin carving/painting, games, vendors, and more! If you are a vendor and interested in attending, please e-mail secretary@haydenlakeshoa.org.

As always, we appreciate any feedback or concerns you have. Email us at board@haydenlakeshoa.org.

Sincerely,

Hayden Lakes Board of Directors
